Embedding Virtual Tours in a la mode XSite

A common question we get is how can I embed a virtual tour in alamode XSite listings - especially a tour created using 3rd party tools.

These are the [options] provided by alamode.

Other than these, officially speaking, you can't embed a virtual tour in your listings. The options included at the above link are basically twofold: create a tour using alamode's tools, or link (i.e. hyperlink - e.g. http://www....) to a tour you built elsewhere and are hosting elsewhere.

However, if you get creative, there are some additional options:

1. Embed 3rd party script code of some type in an ordinary page on the XSite.

create or access the desired page (see alamode help)
view the code for that page (see alamode help)
insert the script code (provided by the 3rd party) into the page

2. Treat an internal page as an external one:

create a tour using an externally hosted tool that provides an embeddable script
embed the script in an ordinary XSite page (see above option)
put the link to the XSite page into the ("external link") option for adding a tour

3. Treat an uploaded file (to the XSite) as an external link:

upload a 3rd party generated media file to the xsite (e.g an AVI file) (see alamode help)
get the direct link to the file (usually discoverable by embedding it in an ordinary page (see alamode help), and then looking at the code to get the link (see above option)
put the direct link into the "external link" option for adding a tour

Whether or how well these unofficial options work will depend on a combination of the file type used by the 3rd party tool, script type used by the 3rd party tool, and necessary XSite security limitations.

Tip: There may also be different results in different browsers (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, IE), so view the end result in the three main free browsers. Some difference of behavior is routinely expected in different browsers, because different browsers support standards differently, in some cases ignoring them.
